The TP-Link Deco XE75, initially priced at $300 for a two-pack, has seen a significant price drop and is now available for just $189. This Wi-Fi 6E mesh router system offers the faster speeds of Wi-Fi 6 along with access to the ultrawide 6GHz band, making it one of the most affordable Wi-Fi 6E routers on the market. While its performance is solid, the primary appeal is its competitive pricing, which is hundreds less than other Wi-Fi 6E systems like the Eero Pro 6E, Linksys Velop Atlas Max, and the Netgear Orbi AXE11000.
TP-Link has consistently produced high-quality routers, and the Deco XE75 is no exception. It features a white, cylindrical design similar to previous TP-Link systems and includes three gigabit Ethernet ports on each device. The system supports HE160, allowing for wider channels of up to 160MHz, and is powered by a 1.7GHz quad-core processor. The Deco app, available for Android and iOS, provides a user-friendly interface for setup and network management, including parental controls and a quality of service engine.
In performance tests, the Deco XE75 delivered strong download speeds but fell short in upload speeds compared to competitors like the Eero Pro 6E and the Netgear Orbi AX6000. The system’s 6GHz band can be used as a dedicated wireless backhaul or shared with 6E devices, though this may affect overall speeds. The Deco XE75’s coverage is estimated at 5,500 square feet, making it suitable for most homes.
Despite its affordability, the Deco XE75 has some limitations. It lacks a multi-gig Ethernet port, which means it cannot fully utilize internet plans faster than 1Gbps. Additionally, some users have reported occasional connection instability and limited customization options. However, the system’s ease of setup, wide coverage, and strong signal have been praised by customers.
Overall, the TP-Link Deco XE75 offers a compelling mix of affordability and performance, making it a strong contender in the Wi-Fi 6E mesh router market. Its value proposition is particularly appealing for those looking to upgrade to Wi-Fi 6E without breaking the bank.
