I’m currently in the market for a new wireless router and I’m torn between the Synology RT2600ac and the Asus RT-AC88U. Both have received excellent reviews and seem to have the features I need for a high-traffic network. However, the key factor for me is throughput.

On paper, the Asus RT-AC88U seems to edge out with its theoretical speed of 3100Mbps, compared to the 2600Mbps of the Synology RT2600ac. However, real-world performance often differs from the manufacturer’s claims.

@Richard6 Both routers are solid choices. However, the Asus RT-AC88U has been reported to handle multiple devices better. Having said that, real-world speeds will depend heavily on your specific setup and environment, like wall materials and the distance from the router. Also, very few devices will be able to reach those max speeds, so the throughput might not be a huge differentiator. Both routers offer robust parental controls and traffic prioritization, so it may come down to price and brand preference.
