While other similar devices have a gradually increasing suction power, the UWANT X100 only has two manual settings, the aforementioned Standard and the Turbo mode which is a bit noisier. To be specific, the measuring tool showed about 74dB – again, not quiet at all, but in line to what to expect from a vacuum cleaner. Lastly, there is the Smart Mode which adjusts the suction levels by itself, which means that you get a wider range of noise. Kind of, because it’s still going to be between the 69dB and the 74dB that I previously measured.
The Maneuverability:
As I have mentioned in the previous section, the UWANT X100 was designed with a low center of gravity in mind, so you shouldn’t feel any additional pressure on your wrist while maneuvering the device. The roller brushes also help a bit to prevent the hard floor vacuum cleaner from slipping due to the weight.
So yes, it’s a very balanced device which puts very little fatigue on the user, which is surprisingly considering the size and the weight of the wet and dry upright vacuum cleaner. But this also creates some quirks. The most notable one is when you try to vacuum underneath a table or chair and need to go at a lower angle. At that point, the roller brush will automatically push the device out, making it difficult to clean that type of area.
Another aspect to keep in mind is the edge cleaning which is not that great since there are always a few inches from the side of the brush section and the brushes themselves – upping the power level seems to alleviate this issue a bit. Then, there’s the swivel – it’s not a very wide angle, but I could move the device around chairs and other furniture.
Hard floor (tile floor) performance:
This is what the UWANT X100 was built for, to not only clean hard floors, but to also mop them at the same time. And I think it works really well. I know it’s not always possible, but I do suggest that the brushes to be completely dried.
I say that because if you they’re not dried, you’re going to get drops of dirty water behind the UWANT X100 and we don’t want that. Then, make sure that when you’re mopping you don’t go too low with the vacuum cleaner because it is possible that some water may be ejected out by doing so. Keep it only at a slight angle and move the device slowly over the stains. I did crush some raspberries on the tile floor and let them dry for about an hour, and then, I went over the stains + pieces of fruit with the UWANT X100.
I had to go several times above the stain to be completely removed and, as you can see, it’s paramount to have the brushes dry before starting the operation. The device also had no trouble vacuuming some larger pieces of bread.
Carpet performance:
The UWANT X100 was not really designed to clean carpets and the two brushes may not do such a great job at removing dirt from within the textile fibers. So, if you have a lot of carpets in your home, I suggest looking at a different type of device.
How it handles the pet hair:
I have mentioned that it handles hair really well due to the metallic piece next to one of the roller brushes, but there is more. When running the self cleaning process, you will hear at some point that the device will start cutting the hair.
And it does exactly that, the roller brush moves at a high speed closer to the blade, cutting any hair that managed to go around the brush. So yes, this is one of the best wet and dry upright vacuum cleaner when owning pets. It also did well with long human hair.
How easy it is to clean up:
It’s a bit of a tedious process, but it’s not inherently difficult. The first thing that needs to be cleaned is the dust bin. If you decide to use the self cleaning function, it’s going to be a bit easier to get all the dust particles together, but even so, you need to give the bin a good wash afterwards – don’t forget to check the filter as well.
That would be all with most other vacuum cleaners, but no, you need to clean the roller brushes as well. The good news is that the self cleaning process cleans the brushes in a decent manner. For example, I used berries to stain my old tiles and after a couple of minutes of spinning, the brushes came out clean, I just need to let them dry for a few hours. There is a chance that after taking the brushes out, some dirt, dust and hair may still get stuck between the roller brushes and the suction tube, so that needs cleaning as well.
If it wasn’t already obvious, you should not submerge any part of the device into water, only the accessories.
The battery life:
The UWANT X100 is equipped with eight 4,000mAh batteries which the manufacturer claims, should last for about 44 minutes on a single run. It doesn’t seem like an overly inflated number, as I saw with almost all robot vacuum cleaners that I tested so far which made me even more curious if I will see similar results. I did vacuum and mop about half the advertised area (approximately 1,400 square feet) and it ate up about 58 percent of battery life.
So, a larger house (let’s say double the size of my apartment) may prove to be a bit big for the UWANT X100, but it does depend on how messy the rooms are and how quick you can move on the hard floor. A lot of dirt requires multiple runs, while maintenance cleaning of a large house is definitely doable before reaching 40 minutes of runtime.
The availability of spare parts:
You have the HEPA filter and the roller brushes that need to be replaced relatively often. And the HEPA filter is universal, so you should be able to find it available in most larger stores, but what about the roller brushes? You need to get those from the manufacturer, but the good news is that they did put a spare into the package, as well as an extra HEPA filter.
INFO: I saw that UWANT prides itself with the TUV certification (the equivalent to UL) and that they do have local warehouses (it doesn’t ship only from Asia). Also, the manufacturer has mentioned that they do have an overseas after-sales department, which should solve any problem in time. But we’ll see if it holds true over the next months.
Conclusion
The UWANT X100 is a very competitive wet and dry upright vacuum cleaner, more than capable to go against other similar devices, such as the Roborock Dyad. That’s because the double roller brushes do a really good job at both vacuuming and mopping the house, the suction power is decent and, despite being fairly large and heavy, the device is very easy to move around. But there are a few fairly unique approaches as well, such as hair cutting function or the double roller brushes positioning and, despite not really being unique, I also really liked the self-cleaning feature. That being said, if your house has mostly hardwood or tile floors, then the UWANT X100 can offer a lot of value for the money.
